There are 371 different parasites that affect humans alone.  Not all pose a threat to their host, but many do and are extremely dangerous to overall health. They are known to enter the body through various ways, which will be discussed in detail herewith.

Skin invasion: certain parasites are known to enter the body through the skin, usually from the feet.  Walking around barefoot around spending pools and public showers could result in a parasitic infection if the larva is on the floor.  Once they have penetrated the skin, normally a red mark will appear at the point of entry and the skin may be itchy, they make their way through the bloodstream.  Depending on the type of parasite, they can work their way to the intestines or the lungs, liver, the bladder, the spleen and other various organs.

Direct contact with a contaminated person: coming in contact with fluids such as saliva, from a contaminated person can lead to a parasitic infection.  In the case of pinworms, very common among children, these parasites are easily transmitted.  With pinworms, you must make an effort to wash bed linens, and underwear and close warned by the affected person in very hot water.

Ensure that the contaminated person is not scratching the aim is, which is where pinworms are located.  In addition, ensure everyone in the household is washing their hands thoroughly and sterilizing them to avoid spreading the pinworms.

Ingestion of contaminated food or water: whether you are a vegetarian or a meat eater, you can get infected from a certain food that has been contaminated with the larva of a parasite.  Undercooked meat is a major culprit in that the eggs of the parasites can be found on a cut of meat in the slaughter houses.  If you need isn’t cooked thoroughly, these eggs will not die off and have a very good chance of surviving within a new host, namely you.

Airborne: Inhaling parasites? Yes it is true that you can inhale parasites.  There isn’t much you can do about this other than keeping your hands clean, and always away from your face, especially your nose.  Keep your environment clean by using air purifiers, vacuuming your mattresses and pillows, couches and carpets.

Prevention Measures

The fact is that the parasites are everywhere.  You can take precautions to avoid becoming infected by washing your hands often, cooking your meat properly, washing your fruits and vegetables very carefully, preferably with a vegetable brush.  If you are traveling, beware of the water and drink bottled water.  Also consider brushing your teeth with the bottled water, and when showering be careful not to let water enter your mouth.

Take care of ground swimming pools and public showers by wearing flip-flops to protect yourself from any contact with a contaminated floor.  Other precautionary measures include certain products that are available that would flush out parasites if you have them.  They will not harm you in the least bit.  Also, try to promote a healthy colon to keep the intestines in top form.
